Amb. Manuel A.J. Teehankee

Ambassador Teehankee is the former Permanent Representative of the Philippines to the World Trade Organization in Geneva, Switzerland as well as the former chair of the WTO’s Committee on Trade and Environment sitting in Special Session from 2008-2010. He has also served in the Philippine government as the Undersecretary of the Department of Justice from 2001-2004 and concurrently as Government Corporate Counsel for the years 2002-2003. As part of the private sector, he is an admitted member of the New York Bar and the Philippine Bar, and was with Baker & McKenzie and LeBoeuf Lamb in New York. He specializes in international arbitration and commercial transactions.

At present, Ambassador Teehankee lectures on WTO Law and Public International Law at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law, his alma mater. He also has a Master’s Degree in Law from the University of Michigan Law School, and the London School of Economics.

In 2012, Ambassador Teehankee joined the Law Firm as International Counsel. He was recently appointed as the Undersecretary of the Department of Foreign Affiairs for International Economic Relation.
